Lakeshore
Microboost, Inc., (LMI) produces a line of chemical
free green products, designed for agriculture, aquiculture,
horticulture, hydroponics and other organic and green industries.
The processes and systems producing these products are the culmination
of years of research by LMIs founder, John Huyge. He developed
methods for combining high carbon feedstocks, such as yard waste
with high nitrogen feedstocks, such as farm manure and converting
these into specialty soils, soil additives and biostimulants. These
are the products LMI produces, packages and sells. The LMI workplace
is the quintessential green facility. Yard waste is
delivered by the Cities of Saugatuck and Douglas through their yard
waste management programs. Manure is procured from local farmers,
reducing the amount being field applied. Wood chips come from local
tree services and the companys own landscaping projects. These
ingredients are mixed and directed to one of two processes at the
facility;
1. Aerobic, static pile composting - This produces compost for biostimulant
production and landscape/nursery soils
2. Anaerobic digester - Here methane gas is produced and converted
to heat for use in biostimulant production, pyrolysis and product
moisture reduction processes. From these two processes five primary
products are produced that can be further mixed and formulated to
develop specialty MBST products and for private labeling.
What
is MICROBOOST®? ("MBST)
MICROBOOST®
is the registered trademark for a line of chemical free, organic
products, organic waste management programs, and services designed
for agriculture, aquiculture, horticulture, hydroponics and the
other green industries.
The
MICROBOOST objective is to provide a long term, viable alternative
to chemical based fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides for the
green industries by producing and marketing biologically superior
growth media, biostimulants and management programs.
MICROBOOST
products are culture to improve the physical and biological conditions
of soil and other growth media, increasing disease resistance, and
improving nutrient uptake and use. Through increasing soils water
holding capacity
How
do MICROBOOST "MBST" products work?
MICROBOOST
products are designed to increase the microbial population and diversity
in the soil and on the surface of plants in the garden, field or
green house. Two of the prominent types of microbes cultivated are
fungi and bacteria. These microbes perform important functions.
The fungi create a growing hyphae extending from plant roots, which
continually increases the area from which the plant microbes can
extract essential nutrients, the hyphae loosens soils and increases
water holing capacity. The bacteria metabolize nutrients fixing
nitrogen and delivering it to the plants.
The
Science behind MICROBOOST® "MBST"
MICROBOOST®
products are cultured to improve the physical and biological condition
of soils and other growth media by suppressing disease causing organisms
and pest populations and improving nutrient availability. MBST products
are formulated to increase the population and diversity of beneficial
soil microbes on the leaf, stems, and roots of horticultural plants
and landscapes.
Rhizobia
(root) associated bacterial cultures are primarily involved in the
biostimulants ability to assist plants in growth and disease/pest
prevention. Spores from the nearthermophillic genera of Bacillus,
Closteridium, Sporosarcina, and stabilized cells from the fungi-like
Actinomycetes metabolize vegetatively inert organic matter, releasing
usable nutrients for plants.
These
good bacteria out-compete disease causing microorganisms for space
on the many surface areas of inoculated plants, and may even release
toxins that may harm parasitic fungi, and damaging insect pests.
Other
beneficial bacteria, from the Pseudomonas, Serratia, Azotobacter,
Azospirillum, and Flavobacterium genera release helpful growth hormones
that promote greater root elongation and growth, increasing the
productivity of many plant species due to an increase in water an
nutrient absorption.
Selected
fungal spores within our biostimulants are added to create a growing
network of mycellial hyphae extending from plant roots, which helps
to increase the area from which the plant microbes can extract essential
nutrients. The fungal hyphae also functions to loosens soils increasing
water holding capacity, aeration, and erosion resistance.
